Don Murry, MSW, LICSW
Donald is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in Washington state. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature from Western Washington University and a Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University. His theoretical orientation is client-centered, strength-based and solution-focused while offering a trauma-informed, collaborative, integrative and holistic approach. He utilizes Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), polyvagal theory and interpersonal neurobiology in his work with adolescents and individuals. Don believes it is the role of the counselor to maintain a safe and inclusive space to elicit an individual’s internal strengths and resources. Don specializes in topics related to stress management, vicarious trauma, depression, men’s issues, adults coping with adoption and attachment-related issues, and the effects of childhood trauma. He works with adolescents and adults. He has worked in the field of intensive outpatient mental health and crisis intervention providing services to a diverse population of adolescents, adults, and families living in the Portland metro and Vancouver areas for over 20 years.
