Jeff Causey, Ph.D.

Jeff is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington and Licensed Professional Counselor in Oregon.  He graduated with a degree in Psychology from Washington State University–Pullman. Jeff earned his master’s degree in School Counseling from Western Washington University and his Ph.D. in Counseling from Oregon State University, both accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

His graduate training included both clinical and school counseling settings with adults, adolescents, couples, families, and groups. Jeff’s approach with adult clients is based on research-based attachment/relational theories of two-person psychology. With adolescents, Jeff approaches distress through the lens of Adlerian theory and uses cognitive, behavioral, mindfulness, and psycho-educational interventions with a warm, authentic, and humorous style.

He enjoys counseling traditional, non-traditional, and same-sex couples. His training in marriage/couple therapy includes sex therapy and attachment-based models to help identify relationship patterns that keep couples in gridlock while teaching them how to move past unsolvable problems in loving ways. In addition to teaching graduate counseling courses as an adjunct instructor, Jeff is pursuing training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma and certification in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for the treatment of anxiety disorders.
